Valentino SS 2007

Enjoy it! :)

Taken by nostalgia, I thought you might be interested to read one of three posts of my old blog "Details of style" (which I have spoken about HERE). They will also be gone five years, but basically - Whereas the floral patterns are back in the limelight for Spring/Summer (and you can have it confirmed HERE) - I think those timid lines written by an immature fashion bloggers (and the years pass, but ... I remain immature! But you can always improve ...) are still very current.

Enjoy it! :)

The Hellenic myth tells of how wind god Zephyrus fell in love with a nymph named Chloris (who later became Flora), abducted her and married her, granted her, finally, the power to rule on the flowers. The myth has passionate artists over the centuries. And it still passionate, reliving in many creations that some designers have proposed for the Spring-Summer 2007.

Seeing many models in the collection of Roccobarocco, how can we forget the nymph of gardens? Watercolor flowers on the body, as if the dress was, in fact, a painting of artist. Simple and clean cuts, which allow patterns to stand out in all their powerful, but not strident, chromia.

Zara has proposed similar plant patterns on some skirts: vibrant tones, but shaded lightly, because the covering surfaces and compact tissues are not suitable or the nymphs of the past, nor that of the twenty-first Century...

Flowers, also for Alexander McQueen who closed his show with a pompous dress covered with fabric flowers. A little too much, and definitely not very portable, but that model perfectly embodies the myth of an ethereal figure dressed only in flowers.

Light cadences and just perfect lines for Roberto Cavalli, who presents his hippie Flora, dressed in a gorgeous ruffled chiffon gown with a fine floral printed pattern. This is accompanied by another nymph, almost an Art Nouveau creation, whose dress is animated by flowers and arabesques that so much reminiscent the design of the early Twentieth Century...

Up to the vibrant and stylized foliage of some Gucci dresses, very glamorous. Really beautiful models, not surprisingly reflected in the colors and patterns from Mango, a line of women's clothing certainly more accessible to us...

Although they have oriented their collections to other trends, even Kenzo and John Richmond did not know how to give up the summer floreal trend offering us a couple delicious modern nymphs: shiny fabrics and oriental lines for the first; flowers on very fine fabrics and plunging necklines for second.

Ruffles that highlight the movements and light pastel tones also by Valentino, clothing her nymphs along for the evening, and in short for the day.

Salvatore Ferragamo too proposes flowers  "in short": lovely dresses in floral patterns so that "remember the summer" on the one hand, and  sunflowers that enliven the classic summer: even the  cocktail dress is animated by flowers.

Obviously, if a nymph in ancient Greece could be satisfied with very fine robes, and some flowers in her hair, so it may not be for the new millennium ones. And here is blossoming flowers of all shapes (of fabric and tulle, enameled metal, yet printed or embroidered) on bags, shoes and all kinds of accessories. A trend, this, which has been taken from many lines of clothing: to be covered with flowers, from head to feet!*
