vita io abbia comprato – soprattutto riviste – perché insieme c’era… qualunque
cosa!!!
imparare, no?
In
e in futuro.
Titolo:
I fashion blogger
web appaiono tanto glamour.
vestito fuori posto. Dafne appartiene a pieno titolo alla prima categoria.
Poi la moda l’ha cambiata…
Ecco,
sconosciuta Lauren Weisberger. Il titolo del libro? Il diavolo veste Prada, of course.
Sempre per curiosità, of course. :)
If I were to
post every new magazine’s issue that I buy this blog probably would be filled
post titled "New In" and I would not have problems to think about the
content of these pages, to translate ideas into words, and I would not have the
difficulties that I see every day in how I'm an atypical fashion blogger (Can I
really call me that? Can I call myself that YET?).
Why, then
post a story in which I’m writing about what I bought today? Maybe just for a
chat with the PC screen, or perhaps because in the end there is something to
say about my shopping on newsstands today...
Well, I
bought "A" – RCS’ group female weekly magazine – what once was called
"Anna". Why are these info? But because as an art historian I speak
... as an historian! And mostly because after I studied the history of Italian
fashion magazines, the obsession to know at least who is the publisher of a
newspaper (not appear, but does it really say much ...) has stayed with me. Bibliographical
punctiliousness aside, I was telling you, I bought "A" and I can say
I did kill two birds with one stone: issue dedicated to fashion shows FW 2012
and annexed ... a book! :)
Here, the
mere fact of analyzing the dynamics of the purchase of a magazine with an
attachment deserves a post in itself, by evaluating the attractive power of the
"gift" (which you pay ... but what kind of gift is it?), by
estimating how many times in my life I have bought something – particularly
magazines – because together there was... whatever! From the bags, to make up
kits, to cosmetics to reach, as is the case today, to books.
But this is
not the post today. (However, I will note the idea for the future! Just because
ideas are scarce for this blog!: P Actually – you can not know – in my mind
there are many ideas and even post started and never finished! Maybe a day I
will publish them anyway...)
I was saying:
"A" with a special article on the Fall-Winter 2012 fashion shows. I
believe I have spent a lot of money in the last three weeks to
"invest" in magazines with pictures, trends, tips for shopping (as though
I had need advice for spending money ... I can very well without us!: P) about
what will be fashionable next season, just around the corner. Why? But for the lookbooks, of
course! Oh, I know what will be trendy since last February,
after I looked at pictures and videos of fashion shows on the websites of
specialist publications and on some blogs that I follow regularly. As if to
say, I did not need to read up further. But, you never stop learning, right?
And above all, a good Visual Merchandiser must think of the others. Like
saying: it is time to think about the lookbooks. In the plural, yes. Two. One
for the shop now, and one ... for the store that will. What is still there, but
where I will work soon. What I still do not know, but I have the heart.
A good Visual
knows how to communicate the mood of the collections, he (or she) can
understand, explain, interpret and selling trends. Let's to know more a bit
'better, I said. So, this explains the purchase of the tenth magazine with
attached file shows. Just because the other nine, perhaps I had not told all
yet... : P
Actually I'm
glad to have a lots of pictures, because soon
the magazines (except for "Vogue": I'll just “touch” it to
read it!) will be reduced to shreds, and transformed into two different
notebooks of trends, my personal gift to Zara store’s staff with which I have
the pleasure to work now and in the future.
However, if I
think about the fact that essentially I don’t like "A" as a magazine
("In matters of taste,
there can be no disputes" someone said...) I know that I totally gave up
this morning by the latest purchased at newsstands, if only the attachment had
not been together in the magazine. The attachment mentioned above. That is a
book.
Title: Pigchic - Love, fashion, and bad luck of
Demetra Dossi, young fashion blogger, creator of Pigchic - Fashionnews and trends blog. I know her web site since while, but until now it was not among
those I follow regularly. But I believe that soon I'll put it in my personal
blogroll (as yet to be updated, however). In the meantime I will dedicate to
the reading of his novel, knowing that it is not literature, but a very easy read. So, anyone might ask why buy
the book if so it will almost certainly "a little thing"? Out of
curiosity, I say. I find the phenomenon of fashion blogging complicated,
multifaceted and worthy of close attention (both launched by myself and say: I
try too!), especially with regard to its implications and consequences. The
fashion bloggers write almost nothing (and in this I am different from many
others), but they put in their post especially photos, images, sudden glimpses
of their lives that filtered from the web seem so glamorous. They write very
little on the web, but then they write books. Novels, or whatever. What a strange
thing, I said. I already knew - before finding the book on sale today with
"A" - of Pigchic (and this
time I speak of the book!) and facing the possibility of having it at a
ridiculous price, I said that for just € 4.90 I might satisfy my curiosity. While
I was returning home from work I read the first pages, stating that this novel
certainly accompany me during the next few days: the perfect read for my
travels by bus and my lunch breaks, it's already in my bag waiting for me.
Read a few
pages certainly did not allow me to pass judgment, but it is certain that
somehow I find myself in the words of the back cover:
The universe
of women is divided into two categories: women who stumble and are full of
defects, normal women who walk every day in high heels but with a pair of flats
in your bag, and those who do not stumble, and always are perfectly made up, never a word or a dress out of place. Daphne
belongs fully to the first category.
Then the
fashion has changed her...
Here, you can
say that fashion, over the years has changed me too. That's why I was so
curious to read this book.
Finally, I
want a little clarification, and this could also be prophetic. The last time I
bought a book attached to a journal was back in 2004: the monthly magazine in
question was "Elle", bought in the moment of a vertiginous impulse,
and the author of the book was a virtually unknown Lauren Weisberger. The title
of the book? The Devil Wears Prada,
of course.
Instead, I do
not have to point out that in a couple of years from that novel (always
"not literature")a movie were made; a film that every self-respecting
fashionista has seen. What am I saying? Knows by heart.

"not literature")a movie were made; a film that every self-respecting

Maybe in a couple of years I'll be going to the cinema to see Pigchic (and this time I’m speaking of the film). Always to satisfy my curiosity, of course. :)
